A postdoc position is available at GCO – Universidad de Valladolid (Valladolid, Spain) in the area of communication networks and fog/MEC/cloud computing for connected vehicle services.

It will involve research on control mechanisms (including methods based on artificial intelligence) to jointly orchestrate heterogeneous resources (communication and computing) on access and metropolitan
networks, techniques for computation offloading from user equipment (on-board in vehicles) to one or more MEC servers considering resource management and vehicle mobility, development of planning/control/simulation software tools, and testbed development.

Applicants must have a PhD (but please, note that PhD degrees from outside the European Higher Education Area, EHEA, must be validated). The expected start date is April 2021. More information can be found at http://gco.uva.es/files/2021/01/postdoc_offer_UVa_ARTEMIS_Jan21.pdf

TwizyLine, runner-up in the Renault and Segula TwizyContest 2020 competition

The Spanish team, led by Juan Carlos Aguado, professor member of the CGO, won the second prize in the international final with their project on smart carsharing.

TwizyLine, the Spanish team in the TwizyContest 2020, managed to rise with the second prize in the final held online on 9 December. The three students of the ETSIT, Adrián Mazaira, Ignacio Royuela and Samuel Pilar, and the student of journalism, Mario Martín, along with their tutors of Renault, Daniel Castaño and Jairo Gurdiel, and the tutor of the UVa and member of the CGO, Juan Carlos Aguado, showed the jury a project that will revolutionize the way of managing fleets of vehicles, either carsharing or buses. The final had more than 150 spectators, with Luis Vélez among them, Valladolid City Council mobility councillor.

The TwizyLine team led by Assocaited Professor Juan Carlos Aguado of the GCO group, presents the winning project of the national phase of the Renault TwizyContest 2020 that will represent Spain in the international final.

TwizyLine is now a reality. The students of the ETSIT, Adrián Mazaira, Ignacio Royuela and Samuel Pilar, and the student of Journalism, Mario Martín, in addition to their university tutor, Juan Carlos Aguado, have designed a carsharing platform with autonomous parking with the aim of improving the mobility of athletes and journalists at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. The design respects the restrictions on polluting vehicles and any it is prepared for any kind of cars, although always electric.

The aim of the initiative is to investigate in the area of the internet of things. The University of Valladolid will manage five of the fifteen theses in collaboration with Telefónica R&D and WindTre.

Members of  UVa, the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIT), the regional government of Junta de Castilla y León and Renault participate in an event with the representatives of Spain for the international final, the TwizyLine team led by Associate Professor Juan Carlos Aguado of the GCO.

The TwizyLine project has been selected to represent Spain for the international final of the Renault TwizyContest 2020, which will take place on the 9th December. The dean of University of Valladolid, Antonio Largo Cabrerizo, the director of the ETSIT, Patricia Fernández, the vice advisor of universities and innovation of the regional government, Pilar Garcés and the director of Engineering of Renault Spain, Marc Bodin, gave the award to the team formed by 3 students of the ETSIT, Adrián Mazaira, Ignacio Royuela and Samuel Pilar, and a student of Journalism, Mario Martín, in addition to their tutor Juan Carlos Aguado, and the tutors from Renault, Daniel Castaño and Jairo Gurdiel. The event took place at the Palace of Santa Cruz, where the prize was presented to the winners and they were wished the best of luck for the final in Paris.
